BREAKING NEWS: February 17, 2015  Expanded DACA and DAPA now on hold: On Monday, February 16, 2015 Judge Andrew Hanen of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued a temporary injunction against the planned implementation of DAPA, and the expansion of DACA.  USCIS was to begin receiving applications under the expanded DACA program on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.  The U.S. Attorney's Office will seek an immediate appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana, which was closed on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 for Mardi Gras holiday.  MALDEF is also seeking an appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is probably the most conservative Circuit Court in the country.  DHS Secretary Jeh C. Johnson issued a statement on Tuesday acknowledging the injunction and USCIS's compliance with it.  Sec. Johnson went on to highlight what the injunction does not affect:

"It is important to emphasize what the District Court's order does not affect.  The Court's order does not affect the existing DACA. Individuals may continue to come forward and request initial grant of DACA or renewal of DACA pursuant to the guidelines established in 2012."
